Anticipating The MAC Aaliyah Collection

Ever since a petition for MAC Selena brought about the MAC Selena collection, a petition for MAC Aaliyah is bringing us the coveted MAC Aaliyah collection.
The triple threat, multi-talented, Aaliyah, was born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Detroit where she graduated from the Detroit Performing Arts High School in 1997 with a 4.0 GPA.
In 1994, at the age of 14, Aaliyah released her first album, an instant success, Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number. The first single, “Back And Forth,” was a Top 5 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 and a No.1 R&B song.
In 1996, Aaliyah released her second record, One In A Million. The first single, “If Your Girl Only Knew,” went double platinum.
In 1998, Aaliyah had a huge hit with “Are You That Somebody” from the Dr. Doolittle soundtrack.
In 2000, Aaliyah had her first motion picture debut with Romeo Must Die
In 2001, following Romeo Must Die‘s box office success, she starred in The Queen of the Damned
This would be her final film.
On August 25, 2001 at the young age of 22 Aaliyah was killed on a plane crash on her way to Miami after shooting the video for “Rock The Boat.”
Her hard work, passion and dedication to her work left a lasting imprint on the industry and that’s evident in the petition for a MAC collection in her honor.
According to her brother, Rashad Haughton, Aaliyah was a big fan of MAC, and her go-to products were Cherish lipstick, Chestnut lipliner, and Espresso eye shadow, alongside the since-discontinued Chelsea lipstick and Biscuit eye shadow.
Her style and overall beauty are timeless and she has left a mark as a classic beauty.
Our first glimpse into the new collection was on April 2nd with a bronzed champagne shade reminiscent of her nude lips,
and an eye palette featuring earthy/90’s grunge hues.
On April 10th we were teased with a red lipstick,
and a pearly champagne lipglass.
