Anna Sorkin made headlines when it was revealed that she had faked being a German heiress as part of an elaborate scam. Over a year later there are still people deeply interested in her case. According to Sorokin, some of those people have been taking their interest to far.

Sorokin is currently serving time in prison on charges of theft, larceny and attempted theft and larceny. She used a fictitious $60million fortune to get money out of businesses and attempted to secure a $22million loan from a bank. Her sentence was four to twelve years.

During the first year and a half of her sentence, Sorokin has dealt with a large number of visits from strangers.

On October 26th, she took to Instagram to put an end to it.

“Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the letters and words of support – I appreciate it.

But please do not show up here to visit me unannounced.

I am not making the same mistake of not checking the visitor’s identity again, and I won’t be accepting visits from names I don’t recognize. So the days of you coming here hoping to catch me slipping are over, and all you’re achieving by coming here is wasting my time and interfering with my sleeping schedule.

I’m kind of busy and showing up here at 8am on a Sunday morning/New Year’s Day/any day is not the way!

No, I haven’t gotten fat or shaved my head, and no, I’m not lonely or in dire need of your company.

She then goes on to say that people who want to contact her can use her email or Instagram DM’s and she will find a way to get back to them.

Although her statement is clear, Sorokin may be facing the same issue again soon. Netflix is working on a series on her life, which will likely generate a new wave of interest in the fraudster who is surprisingly active on social media.
