Celebrities, models and fashion designers flocked to London for the 2017 Fashion Awards on Sunday. This year’s event featured 15 categories, including creative influencer,
business leader, ready-to- wear designer of the year and more.

In years previous, the Fashion Awards was known as the British Fashion Awards and produced annually by the British Fashion Council. In an effort to open the awards up
to an international market, the name was switched.

Out of 15 awards given out, 10 were voted on by a fashion voting panel. The panel included members of the media, retailers, CEOs and fashion creatives. The Style Icon award, which was given to Donatella Versace, was voted on by the public.

In the past, all winners had to be Brit based, with the exception of the International Designer Award. But now the British Menswear Designer of the Year, British Womenswear Designer of the Year, British Brand and Emerging Talent Awards are the only London-town dominated fields.

The show also honored industry veterans of the past and upcoming pioneers of fashion’s future. Dior’s Maria Grazia Chiuri acknowledged the late Franca Sozzani and Naomi Campbell lead a league of models in presenting a profound tribute to the late designer, Azzedine Alaïa – whom she endearingly referred to as “papa.”

Eryka Badu presented the International Model of the Year award to Adwoa Aboah. Aboah wore a sequined Halpern dress and said “I’m so happy to be a part of an industry that is at the forefront of making a change.”
